They had left prom shortly after Prom King and Queen were revealed, Kurt had let his high expectations get to his head; the thought of both him and Blaine on that stage wearing crowns had sent hearts to Kurt’s eyes for weeks. Although knowing this was going to happen, Blaine couldn’t get mad with Kurt, he was upset because Kurt was and did what his heart ordered him to do.
Which is how they ended up in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart. Blaine had hurried into store just minutes before, leaving Kurt alone in his boyfriend’s car sulking but making an attempt at a smile. He had gone to prom with his boyfriend after all, it wasn’t a complete buzz kill. As his thoughts consumed most of his attention, Kurt never noticed the sound of the passenger door being pulled open and before he knew it, his body hit the warm air as he was being pulled out from the car by Blaine. “What are you doing?” Kurt asked, his eyes dropping to the small but full plastic bag Blaine held.
Blaine had responded with the clear of his throat and now slowly took his time with what was inside the bag. “Tonight was beyond what I was expecting, Kurt. I know we had to fight to get to where we are today but it was worth it when you pulled me along the dancefloor to dance a slow one with you. I knew the moment I saw you smile, it was the perfect time to tell you I love you." Blaine smiled, the memory was fresh in his head and would be for the rest of his life. "But I know you really wanted that crown…" He jostled with the plastic bag and pulled out a small tiara that usually came in a little girl’s princess set. "It isn’t exactly a crown but you’re fond of your tiaras and of the princess diaries." They had watched the two films exactly 4 times in the last week, Kurt was overly excited to get his foot pop moment at prom, which he did. "So this is.. tiara is to remind you that.." As Blaine talked, he slowly edged his way toward Kurt, placing the tiara on his perfectly sculpted hair. "no matter what the prom committee says, you will always be my King.”
